 | Disposing of ICT Equipment There have been long-standing Birmingham City Council policies and procedures for disposal of ICT kit. These have been revised recently by Birmingham Audit and approved by Chief Officers. Education Services has complementary procedures based on the City Council policy, enhanced to meet the particular requirements of the user base, especially schools. These pages have been developed to assist schools and Education Service units and sections to dispose of unwanted ICT equipment, in line with agreed policies. | | | ICT equipment disposal policies - The responsibility for disposing of all equipment in schools (including ICT) lies with governing bodies.
- The responsibility for disposing of ICT equipment in Education Services units and sections lies with line management
( unless it is “corporate” departmental equipment such as network (or) communications devices).
In both cases, Birmingham City Council prefers that equipment that still has useful life is cascaded to other users. If the equipment is broken or unwanted by anyone, it must be recycled or scrapped using a recognised WEEE-compliant organisation. |
