Compatibility guidance with installing Windows XP Service Pack 3

Windows XP Service Pack 3 has not been yet been fully tested with the core MIS applications so any real issues are at this time is unknown.  Windows XP Service Pack 3 is large (about 300Mb) and the download time will be varied subject to the site internet connection..

If you are updating your workstations with Windows XP Service Pack 3 ensure that you test this service pack appropriately in its native environment before it is deployed.

If you are using Windows Update to (automatically update) your workstations ensure that you test thoroughly before releasing it onto the school Network. The best thing would be if it has not already deployed, is to exclude it from the download until tested.

For MIS and Critical workstations

DO NOT deploy unless you have had formal notification that is has been tested and that it works correctly with the MIS core applications or you have tested it thoroughly enough to know that it will not cause any additional issues.

RM Networks

The Windows XP Service Pack 3 is currently not available from RM.
